Social Media Marketing Coordinator

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Raise your hand if you LOVE social media! Yeah, we feel the same… So join in leading the digital conversation about the team that’s shaking up the K-12 Education game for the better. Founded by educators and entrepreneurs, Start-Up Kids is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is bringing entrepreneurship to elementary and middle schools throughout Ventura County. We’ve successfully completed 3 years of entrepreneurship education at Westlake Elementary School and are expanding into schools throughout Camarillo, Oxnard, and Ventura. We’ve received positive feedback from K-12 educators, parents, and children and now have elementary schools “in line” wishing to participate in our program. We’re looking for someone to plunge into the deep end of social media marketing to grow our online presence by crafting and delivering engaging digital content across all major social channels. Everyone says you’re a good writer and content creator, but you’re so much more than that. You have the talent to take concepts, ideas, and information and create rich multimedia content that not only makes people stop scrolling, but sparks conversation and adds value. You’ve got a keen eye for style, consistency, and impact.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Manage the Start-Up Kids brand by creating, curating, and publishing fun and exciting social media content across digital mediums including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

  • Evaluate audiences, determine the best content mix (text, video, graphics, etc.) to deliver on-point information, and own execution of content development and delivery.

  • Actively engage with local schools, teachers, parents, and entrepreneurs on social media to share our journey, acquire new followers, and generate leads.

  • Identify and connect with local influencers in education and entrepreneurship through social media to expand our network and reach.

  • Research relevant local events and collaborative business opportunities.

  • Write impactful marketing copy and design ad creative for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google advertising campaigns.

  • Capture, edit, and publish photos and video content from our live events across social media platforms.

  • Monitor social media activity, analyze trends, and report insights to our team.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Liberal Arts, Business, or another field in which you demonstrate excellent writing skills. We will ask for examples of your writing.

  • Strong social media knowledge, understanding, and experience (experience with using social media for business and 3rd party SMM tools a plus).

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Photoshop®, Illustrator®, and InDesign® a plus.

  • Willingness and ability to occasionally travel to local fundraising events, board meetings, teaching sessions, pitch competitions, etc. to create organic content (outside classroom hours
